Vote Brianna Adams for Oak Park MAC on November 5th!
My name is Brianna Adams, and I am running for Oak Park Municipal Advisory Council. My family has lived in Oak Park for over a decade, and it has been a wonderful place to raise our children. I am so grateful for all my family has been given because of being a part of the Oak Park community and it is always my goal to give back in any way that I can. I believe that each one of us can make a difference in this world whether it be large or small and I have worked hard to do just that here in Oak Park. I am excited to expand my service in Oak Park beyond the school district and to the greater community. I am an experienced leader who wants to work hard for you. It has been my honor to serve in many varied leadership roles including but not limited to:
Oak Park Unified Measure S Planning Committee
Medea Creek Middle School PFA President
Medea Creek Site Council
Oak Hills Elementary School PFA President
Oak Hills Site Council
YMCA Yarrow Board Member
Oak Park High School Athletic Booster Club Vice President
Oak Hills Elementary School Treasurer
Medea Creek Middle School Vice President Programs
Medea Creek Middle School Vice President Volunteers
During my tenure in these roles, it was always important to me to hear the voices and feedback of others. This is a quality I believe would serve me well on the Oak Park MAC. With the help of a dynamic team I was proud to be able to spearhead many exciting capital improvement projects at Oak Park Schools. We installed a running track and keyboard lab at Oak Hills Elementary allowing for every student to have hands on experience with a musical instrument. We repainted the handball courts to include positive messages of kindness. We revamped the Amphitheatre at Medea Creek, added many green turf spaces for students to enjoy across campus and installed new basketball hoops, soccer goals, and a gaga pit. We repurposed the limited existing outdoor seating at Oak Park High School to create shaded seating for students to eat, study, and relax on.
I was also very proud to bring sports to Medea Creek Middle School and initiate the creation of the All-Star Sports league. This league allows Medea Creek students the opportunity to participate alongside their peers in sports at no cost that they may have not otherwise had the chance to try. Students get to compete against three LVUSD middle schools increasing their connection with our neighboring communities. It also allows other middle school students to come cheer on and support their peers, increasing school spirit and a sense of belonging to their school community.
It is always important to me to build community and connection. To that end I created community building events at each school I served at. At Oak Hills I created a Potluck and Give Back event which allowed families to come together sharing their favorite family recipes over dinner. I also created programs that allowed parents to give back to the community through various annual community service projects supporting local philanthropies. At Medea Creek Middle School I created Fall Ball, a schoolwide picnic featuring a staff vs. students kickball game. At Oak Park High School I created a Fall Sports Tailgate event that is open to all OPUSD schools and the Oak Park community allowing residents to come together for a spirit filled night of family fun.
As you can see, in my leadership roles within OPUSD it was important to me to invest wisely to improve facilities, expand programs, and build community.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my website and learn more about me and why I want to represent Oak Park on the Municipal Advisory Council. I believe my experience, my belief in community, my ability to listen and be open to feedback of differing opinions, and my love of Oak Park would make me an ideal candidate to serve our community. If elected I very much look forward to serving you.
